The RECONNECT Info Day, organized by the University of Rijeka – Faculty of Biotechnology and Drug Development (UNIRI FABRI), was successfully held on March 26, 2026, in Šibenik, Croatia.
This event brought together key stakeholders, experts, and representatives from the fisheries and aquaculture sectors to discuss innovative approaches and opportunities for advancing circular economy practices within the Mediterranean blue economy.
RECONNECT Info Day in Croatia
During the Info Day, participants had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the RECONNECT project, including its objectives, activities, and expected impact.
The programme, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Petra Karanikic (UNIRI FABRI), included:
- a presentation of the RECONNECT project
- key findings from the Regional Report on Industrial Symbiosis and Circularity in Croatia
- an overview of tools, pilot activities, and opportunities for SMEs, organizations, and stakeholders

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A and networking session, fostering open discussion, exchange of ideas, and new opportunities for collaboration among participants.
The dynamic interaction between stakeholders confirmed strong interest in circular solutions and underlined the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation at both local and international levels.
The RECONNECT Info Day also emphasized the importance of knowledge transfer and capacity building, particularly for SMEs and organizations operating in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
