The Chamber of Economy of Montenegro organized an Info Day on the occasion of presenting the open call for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs within the RECONNECT project, which focuses on the development of the circular economy, industrial symbiosis, and the sustainable utilization of resources from the blue economy.
The Director of the Project Department, Ms Tanja Radusinović, informed the participants about the project’s objectives, the opportunities available to interested businesses, and the conditions for participation in the open call, which was launched on 8 April 2026 and remains open until 30 June 2026.
New Opportunities for SMEs in Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Craft Sectors
Participants were introduced to the concept of industrial symbiosis, which involves cooperation between different sectors in order to utilize resources more efficiently. Through the RECONNECT project, waste and by-products from fisheries and aquaculture can gain new value through their use in craft production, contributing to waste reduction and the creation of new business opportunities.
Ms Radusinović announced that the project will support a total of 130 SMEs from partner countries, 26 of which are planned to be selected from Montenegro.
The call is open to SMEs and entrepreneurs operating in the fisheries, aquaculture, and crafts sectors. During the presentation, the following key benefits for participants were highlighted:
- Identification of opportunities to transform waste into new commercially viable products;
- Business analysis supported by artificial intelligence;
- Networking with domestic and international partners;
- Access to new markets;
- Free expert and advisory support.
Participants were informed that the evaluation and selection process will be conducted transparently, based on clearly defined criteria.
